Battlefield Restoration Day (3).png

Battlefield Work Day

Friday, September 17th 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

We are seeking volunteers to help clean up the battlefield and lawn around the Pearson house. We'd like to tidy up the grounds, trim vines and clean up flower beds.

When the Battle of Black Jack took place, the land was clear of trees and brush. Our end goal is to bring the site back to its 1956 condition, so that visitors can experience the battlefield in the same state that John Brown, Henry Clay Pate and their men experienced it.

We will provide a couple weed eaters, chainsaw and a mower. Feel free to bring your pruning shears, rakes, clippers, etc. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for groundskeeping work. We will ask volunteers to sign a safety waiver before they are able to help.

Make sure to only click “going” on Facebook or e-mail us at marketing@blackjackbattlefield.org if you anticipate attending, so that we can provide enough lunch for volunteers!
